In Creature Kitchen, strawberries are locked inside the kitchen refrigerator from the start of the game. You cannot pick strawberries outside in the forest or find them in the initial dry pantry. To access them, you must befriend the crow named Corin by feeding her two meals, which rewards you with the fish-shaped key needed to unlock the fridge door.
How to Get the Fish Key and Unlock the Fridge
The refrigerator in the main kitchen area is secured by a padlock marked with a fish emblem. To unlock it, you must earn the key from Corin, the bird perched outside.
- Locate Corin: Step outside into the yard where the chimes and lost-and-found box are located. Ring the chimes or look for the bird landing on the small outdoor table plate.
- Photograph Corin: Use your camera (right-click) to snap a picture of Corin. Checking the creature notebook will reveal her request: she simply wants "any two meals."
- Cook Two Basic Dishes: Corin will accept almost any meal cooked in the oven, including simple items or mistakes:
- Toast: Slice a loaf of bread at the cutting board with the knife, place a single bread slice into the oven, close the door, and collect the toast.
- Pancakes: Blend flour and water in the mixing bowl to make dough, place the dough and maple syrup into the oven, and bake.
- Mistake / French Fries: Even burnt items or four sliced potatoes baked into fries will fulfill her order.
- Deliver the Food: Place each meal on Corin's feeding plate outside. After eating two separate meals, she awards you three hearts and drops the fish key on the counter or table.
- Open the Refrigerator: Pick up the fish key, bring it to the kitchen fridge, and unlock the padlock.
Ingredients Found Inside the Refrigerator
Once unlocked, the refrigerator provides immediate access to perishable cooking supplies that were previously unavailable:
| Refrigerator Ingredient | Initial Usage / Recipe Association |
|---|---|
| Strawberries | Blended with sugar to create jam for sandwiches |
| Butter | Sautéing, gravy, and pasta dishes |
| Milk | Blending with cheese for sauces, or making ice cream |
| Eggs | Frying in the pan for egg sandwiches and omelets |
| Raw Steak | Grinding with salt for beef dishes and dog meals |
| Lettuce | Salads and burrito fillings |
If you remove ingredients, the refrigerator restocks its supplies automatically as you open and close the door during normal kitchen play.
How to Use Strawberries
The primary early-game use for strawberries is crafting strawberry jam to feed the raccoon beneath the porch, known as Trash Cat.
- Crafting Jam: Take one strawberry from the fridge and grab sugar from the kitchen drawers. Place both into the mixing bowl and stir in a consistent direction until strawberry jam is produced. Press the spring-loaded button beneath the bowl if you need to pop the finished item out.
- Making a PB&J Sandwich: Take the freshly made jam, a jar of peanut butter from the dry counter, and two slices of cut bread. Place all three components into the oven void to bake a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.
- Progressing Quests: Delivering the PB&J along with an egg sandwich to Trash Cat fulfills his request for two sandwiches, rewarding you with the cheese cabinet key.
Strawberry Achievement Notes
Finding strawberries is a mandatory step toward completing the Fully Stocked achievement, which requires discovering every ingredient in the game. In community discussions on the Steam forums, players troubleshooting missing ingredient lists frequently identify the refrigerator items and special outdoor mushrooms as the easiest to overlook. Once the fridge is unlocked and the strawberry is held, it registers to your pantry tracking for the rest of your playthrough.
